Psychologist FSP – assessments and therapies

A. Psychological assessments

Comprehensive psychological evaluations

Our FSP psychologist provides in-depth psychological assessments for children and adolescents aged 4 to 18. These evaluations explore cognitive, attentional, and emotional functioning to clarify diagnosis and guide individualized care.

  1. ADHD assessment (4–18 years)
Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is characterized by difficulties in concentration, motor restlessness, or marked impulsivity. The evaluation distinguishes ADHD from other possible causes of attentional difficulties and defines a precise cognitive profile, essential for guiding therapeutic or educational interventions.
  2. Autism spectrum disorder assessment (ASD, 6–18 years)
ASD is characterized by differences in communication, social interactions, and restricted interests. The assessment aims to understand the child’s overall functioning, identify strengths and specific needs, and propose accommodations for school and daily life.
  3. IQ assessment (4–18 years)

IQ evaluation helps identify the child’s cognitive profile, detect potential difficulties, or reveal high potential. This information supports adaptation of the educational environment, identification of associated difficulties, and valorization of the child’s skills.

Methodology and tools used

Our assessments rely on standardized and scientifically validated tools:

  • Wechsler scales (WISC-V, WPPSI-IV)
  • Diagnostic tools ADOS-2 and ADI-R for ASD
  • Attention tests (TEA-Ch, K-CPT, CPT, FEE, d2-R, etc.)
  • NEPSY battery
  • Standardized questionnaires for parents and teachers

Each assessment report is reviewed by the neuropediatrician Dr. Anastasia Dayer and results in a co-signed report, ensuring scientific and medical validity. Practical recommendations for school and home are systematically included, and additional medical follow-up can be proposed if needed.

Integrated medical-psychological approach

This approach combines scientific rigor, psychological expertise, and neuropediatric point of view to provide a comprehensive and nuanced understanding of the child. It ensures coherent, effective care adapted to cognitive, emotional, and educational needs.

B. Cognitive remediation therapies

Our psychologist offers targeted programs to strengthen cognitive and attentional functions, adapted to the profiles identified during the assessment. These scientifically validated interventions support the child’s autonomy and skills, with or without medication.

  1. Cogmed therapy – individual and tailored
Cogmed is a scientifically validated digital therapy designed to improve working memory, often impaired in children with ADHD. It is conducted individually on a computer, can be partially performed remotely, and is personalized to each child’s profile.

Important modalities:

  • ADHD diagnosis must be confirmed before starting therapy
  • Certain questionnaires or tests may be requested before therapy to individualize the program
  • Therapy can be conducted with or without psychostimulant treatment
  • Not reimbursed by LAMal; a personalized estimate will be sent to parents before starting, coverage may be possible through international insurance

  1. PIFAM program – group workshops for children with ADHD
PIFAM is an attentional and executive function training program for children aged 10 to 14 with a confirmed ADHD diagnosis. It aims to:
  • Teach children to listen to themselves and identify difficulties in executive and attentional functions
  • Understand the impact of their behaviors on daily activities
  • Develop strategies to solve problems independently and strengthen autonomy

Workshop organization:

  • Group sessions of maximum 6 children
  • 12 sessions total, once a week over 3 months (September to November)
  • Limited places, allocated on a first-come, first-served basis
  • Confirmed ADHD diagnosis required for participation
  • Workshops are not reimbursed by LAMal; estimates can be provided for parents or international insurance prior to participation

Coordination and medical-psychological follow-up

For each program, joint follow-up with neuropediatrician Dr. Anastasia Dayer can be arranged to ensure an integrated and scientifically rigorous approach. This coordination guarantees coherence between assessment, cognitive remediation, and medical follow-up.
